I've been contemplating changes to the blog for a bit now. As we can see with my recent layout/comment loss fiasco, change isn't always good. One part of the blog that I frequently neglect is the Poem of the Week feature. I do it mainly, because I don't always feel like putting up a poem. Sometimes I feel like a song, a picture or some other piece of art or technology. I just haven't been able to figure out what to call it, until now! It's not the catchiest title, but since I like the word "sauce" I've decided to rename Sunday's PotW feature to SOSS: Sapphic Owl's Sunday Special. Although I am a fan of WLLD 98.7 DJ, 3rd Leg Greg, this title is not meant in anyway to bear any resemblance to his Sunday Session. Today's feature is a song called "In a Manner of Speaking" by French band Nouvelle Vague. I came across it, while watching the movie A Mighty Heart about the late Wall Street journalist Daniel Pearl. I am a sucker for acoustic/laid-back/creepy music, and this song's no exception. For those that want the lyrics, you can find them beneath the song.
In a manner of speaking
I just want to say
That I could never forget the way
You told me everything
By saying nothing
In a manner of speaking
I don't understand
How love in silence becomes reprimand
But the way that I feel about you
Is beyond words
Oh give me the words
Give me the words
That tell me nothing
Ohohohoh give me the words
Give me the words
That tell me everything
In a manner of speaking
Semantics won't do
In this life that we live,we live, we only make do
The way that we feel
Might have to be sacrificed
So in a manner of speaking
I just want to say
That just like you I should find a way
To tell you everything
By saying nothing
Oh give me the words
Give me the words
That tell me nothing
Ohohohoh give me the words
Give me the words
That tell me everything
Oh give me the words
Give me the words
That tell me nothing
Ohohohoh give me the words
Give me the words
That tell me everything...
